Cigars differ according to origin, brand, shape, size, flavour and strength.  Brands tend to have a consistent flavour or strength.  Sizes offer longer or shorter smokes. Prices vary according to origin, brand, size and also scarcity, with age being particularly significant and of course, how well they’ve been stored.

Cigars manufactured for the UK market are recognised for being of the highest quality and carry an EMS (English Market Standard) label but cigars made for other countries (known as regional editions) can offer a more economical alternative.

If you would like to venture into the magical world of cigars and don't know where to begin, our recommendation would be to come and visit us.

For those  that aren't able to visit, start light to medium and for that unmistakable aroma, go Cuban rather than New World.  There are some great first time smokes from brands such as Hoyo de MonterreyH.Upmann and Romeo Y Julieta.  The Cohiba Siglo lines are also a great option, particularly if you're marking the occasion.  Still not sure? Our Beginners Sampler Packs have been put together especially for you.

If you’d like a chat or a more personal recommendation, feel free to contact us via telephone or email.  We will happily offer advice and direct you towards cigars that best suits your taste profile and budget.

or alternatively, contact us via telephone or email.  We will happily offer advice and direct you towards something that suits your needs, your taste profile and budget.

Should you visit our premises, you'd be very welcome to make use of our Sampling Lounge where we'll be happy to talk through any of the basics, perhaps over a coffee.  We offer a non-judgemental, very informal experience and are happy to walk you through how to store cigars, the options for cutting, how to light and smoke and savour.

You'll soon notice that a cigar's flavour evolves from beginning to end.  It’s good to make a note of your observations as from there, you'll ascertain whether you'd like something stronger - perhaps you've been a tobacco smoker before, or you'd prefer a tighter, more compact draw or a loose, easy pull, or perhaps a different combination of tastes or a longer smoke.  You may also wish to compare Cuban flavours to New World offerings... and learn to appreciate the art and history of these incredible sticks.  Every journey is very personal and we’re here in any way you need.
